Echo Mountain a great training facility

ECHO MOUNTAIN —  In her first season as a ski coach, Sarah Schleper has learned those slopes feel a whole lot colder for coaches than they do for racers. She has also discovered she loves coaching way more than she thought she might when she retired after 13 seasons on the World Cup last December.

“It’s the only thing, I think, keeping me sane from retirement,” Schleper said the other night during a training session under the lights at Echo Mountain. “This fall I was going crazy, not being in Europe for the first time in like 10 years. This has been keeping me very positive.”

Schleper coaches for the Front Range Ski Club at Echo Mountain, which went private this year and became a training center.
